OFFSHORE CYPRUS HYDROCARBONS EXPLORATION-NOTICE FOR SECOND LICENSING ROUND - FEBRUARY 2012
The Republic of Cyprus issued an invitation to all interested persons to apply for hydrocarbon exploration licenses and subsequent hydrocarbon exploitation licenses in respect of certain acreage in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus. Applications may be submitted within 90 days of the date of publication of this notice in the Official Journal of the European Union, i.e. until 11.5.2012. Applications reaching the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism after the above mentioned period has elapsed will not be taken into consideration.

The Russian State Duma ratified the new version of the agreement for avoidance of double taxation between Russia and Cyprus on 15/02/2012 that was signed on the 7 of October 2010, during the Russian President’s official visit to Cyprus.

Two new measures have been introduced in Cyprus, with the passing of a new law, which has taken effect from the 02/12/2011 and will be effective until the 01/06/2012. The new law aims to encourage the sale of property in an ailing real estate market and apply both to residents and foreigners.
